Key notes: The Southern All Star Series presented by Showtime Properties opens a Peach State doubleheader with Friday’s 40-lap, $4,000-to-win opener at Hartwell Motor Speedway. … It’s the first major Late Model touring event held at Hartwell since July 16, 2009, a $3,500 Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals race won by Casey Roberts. … Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., won a SAS East Series race there on Aug. 30, 2008, worth $4,000. … Points leader Tucker Anderson of Blairsville, Ga., chases his second series win of the season after earning a $5,000 victory on March 6 at Penton (Ala.) Raceway. … The other four SAS races completed this season have been won by Madden (one) and Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga. (three), who are not expected to compete. … A $1,000 cash bonus will be paid to the driver who has the best combined finish in both series races this weekend, including Saturday’s 50-lap, $5,000-to-win stop at Winder-Barrow Speedway in Winder, Ga. … 602 Crate Late Models ($1,500-to-win), stock 8s, front-wheel drives, mini late models and young guns are on the undercard. … Pits open at 4 p.m. and grandstands open at 5 with hot laps at 7.
