Winner Scott Crigler gets rolling before the Monett feature.
What won the race: Leading all but two laps, fifth-starting Scott Crigler of Alton, Mo., earned $3,000 Friday at Monett Motor Speedway on the fledgling United Late Model Racing Association. Crigler overtook Logan Martin early and wasn't seriously challenged in his 30-lap victory that makes him 2-for-2 in ULRA action. Tyler Kuykendall finished 3.631 seconds behind as the runner-up.
Quotable: "I hadn't set foot in (a Longhorn Chassis) in about six or seven years, and Vinny Giuliani, he's got me a set of shocks coming. I got a car from Brennon Willard and Tony Jackson (Jr. that) I traded a motor for and, yeah, it's good to be back home," Crigler said of the car his team put together overnight. "Them things are, they're pretty comfortable. They're kind of like putting on a new set of shoes, so we're gonna try that a little bit."
Key notes: Scott Crigler's first ULRA victory came April 25 at Monett in a Capital Race Car. ... Logan Martin, who drove Austin Vincent's second car, led the first two laps but ended up retiring on lap 15 while running sixth. ... Four cautions slowed the action. ... The first start was called back when Blake Steele stopped in turn two after an opening-lap tangle. ... On the fourth lap, Shawn Duncan spun in turn two. ... Ryan Johnson slowed for a lap-six yellow. ... On the 16th lap, fourth-running polesitter Drew Armstrong tangled with the lapped car of Marvin Forrest, whose car briefly bounded into the air in turn three; both retired. ... D.J. Burke scratched from the feature. ... ULRA is a first-year tour developed by former racer Jesse Stovall. ... The weekend continues Saturday at Salina (Okla.) Highbanks Speedway, replacing the scheduled stop at Legit Speedway Park after the West Plains, Mo., track rained out.
On the move: Austin Vincent of Moody, Mo., started 10th and finished fourth; Jaxon Ertel of Neosho, Mo., started 11th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Crigler’s Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Royal Oak, Crigler Timber Harvesting, Integra Racing Shocks, AMSOIL, Hoosier Tire Midwest, Keyser Manufacturing, VP Racing Fuels, Midwest Sheet Metal and Center Point Graphics.
