Dallon Murty (99) outran Dylan Thornton at Lee County.
What won the race: Prevailing after a late-race duel with Dylan Thornton, division rookie Dallon Murty of Chelsea, Iowa, won a nonstop 30-lapper Saturday night at Lee County Speedway for his second Malvern Bank East Series victory of the season. The third-starting Murty earned $3,000.
Quotable: "That was crazy. I think the top five of us were all just together," Murty said. "Charlie (McKenna) was leading for most of it and Dylan (Thornton) was running second and they start kind of racing. I was able to go where they wasn't and finally got some clean air around the top and once we cleared Charlie, then I just held on to the end."
Key notes: Dallon Murty's first series victory came May 10 at Independence (Iowa) Motor Speedway. ... Polesitter Charlie McKenna led most of the way. ... Lee County's on-track action was delayed about 45 minutes by an area power outage. ... Nick Marolf of Moscow, Iowa, led all 25 laps to win Friday’s series event at C.J. Speedway in Columbus Junction, Iowa.
On the move: C.J. Horn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, started 15th and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: Murty’s Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by Bidwell Farms, Murty Farms, Stealth Oilwell Services, Kash Money Motorsports, Bilstein Shocks, Swift Springs, Performance Bodies, Fast Shafts driveshafts, Velocita Premium Motorsports Apparel, Quality Services and Malvern Bank.
