What won the race: Dominating all 25 laps, polesitter Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., captured the first Twisted Twin 25 Friday at La Salle Speedway for a $5,000 MARS Championship Series victory. Pierce won the first of the night's two preliminary features by 3.283 seconds over runner-up Shannon Babb with the same competitors battling again moments after the race with a 10-car inversion.
Key notes: Pierce also won at La Salle on May 6 in FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota competition. ... The lone caution appeared on the fifth lap for a tangle involving Brian Shirley, Brennon Willard and Bob Gardner. ... Dillon McCowan of Urbana, Mo., piloted the Adam family-owned No. 75 Longhorn that's been previously driven this season by Daniel Adam and Mike McKinney (both who were in modified competition at La Salle). ... Following the 25-lapper, the second 25-lap twin will start with an inversion of all lead-lap finishers in the first race (up to 10 cars). … The top-four point earners from Friday’s prelims earn pole starting positions for Saturday’s heats (qualifying will determine the remainder of the heat race starting lineup). … The Illinois Valley Showdown concludes with Saturday’s 75-lap, $25,000-to-win main event.
