Tyler Erb captured the second Twisted Twin 25 at La Salle.
What won the race: Hanging on at the finish after leading all the way from the outside front-row, Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas, captured Friday's second Twisted Twin 25 at La Salle Speedway on the MARS Championship Late Model Series. Erb earned $5,000 in taking the checkers 0.189 of a second ahead of Ryan Unzicker with a high-flying Brandon Sheppard just behind in third.
Quotable: “I just had to kinda move around and do all kinds of crazy stuff and keep them scared from trying to get next to me I guess,” Erb said. “But yeah, it worked out. It was cool. The format really, really helped me today, so just take them any way you can get it."
Key notes: Tyler Erb notched his third career MARS victory. ... Runner-up Ryan Unzicker moved into second on lap 17 and trailed Erb the final nine laps. ... The lone caution appeared on the 22nd lap when fourth-running Daryn Klein appeared to lose power down the frontstretch and ended up against the turn-one wall. ... Dale Markham and Bob Gardner scratched from the prelim. ... Dillon McCowan of Urbana, Mo., piloted the Adam family-owned No. 75 Longhorn that's been previously driven this season by Daniel Adam and Mike McKinney, who were both in modified competition at La Salle. ... The 25-lapper started immediately after the first prelim — captured by Bobby Pierce — with a 10-car inversion. ... The top-four point earners from Friday’s prelims earn pole starting positions for Saturday’s heats; time trials will determine the remainder of the heat race starting lineup. … The Illinois Valley Showdown concludes with Saturday’s 75-lap, $25,000-to-win main event.
On the move: Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., started 10th and finished fourth.
