Tad Pospisil in victory lane at Adams County Speedway.
What won the race: Muscling past Corey Zeitner on the 22nd lap, 10th-starting Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., paced the final four circuits of Saturday's $5,000 third annual Pumpkin Dash at Adams County Speedway. Pospisil beat Chad Simpson by 1.628 seconds for his first Malvern Bank East Series and fourth West Series victory of the season in the co-sanctioned season finale for the Midwestern sister tours.
Quotable: “We just got the car to steer finally. We’ve been pushing like a damn dump truck for the past three weekends, I don’t know how we won (Sept. 26) at Lakeside,” Pospisil said. “We just tried a different right-front (tire) tonight, I knew what direction that I thought we needed to go and just finally had the guts to try it and it worked really good.”
Key notes: Pospisil's second straight season-ending Pumpkin Dash victory gives him nine career East Series and 44 career West Series triumphs. ... It's his fifth overall feature win of the season. ... Polesitter Corey Zeitner, winner of Sept. 27's $3,000 West Series stop at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., led laps 2-21 before slipping to finish fifth. ... Fifth-starting Chad Simpson and 11th-starting Bill Leighton Jr. followed Pospisil by Zeitner on the 23rd lap. ... Dylan Thornton improved nine positions to finish fourth, clinching his first career East Series title. ... Seventh-starting Jesse Sobbing wrapped up his second career West Series championship (2022) with a 19th-place finish after a multicar melee eliminated him on lap 14. ... The lap-14 incident drew the race's fifth and final stoppage, necessitating a 15-minute red flag for cleanup after Sobbing, Brian Kosiski, Jason Hahne and Jacob Hobscheidt were involved; Sobbing was later checked out at the hospital but was released with no serious injuries. ... Curt Schroeder spun in turn four for a lap-13 yellow flag. He continued to finish 14th. ... J.C. Wyman recovered to finish 12th after a lap-seven spin drew the second stoppage. ... Second-starting Kyle Berck led the opening lap before spinning in turn three and triggering the first slowdown. He avoided contact and continued to a 10th-place finish. ... The East-West season finale lasted just shy of 34 minutes with 16 starters completing 25 laps. ... Andrew Kosiski scratched after hot laps.
On the move: Dallon Murty of Chelsea, Iowa, started 19th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Pospisil's Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Scott Bailey Racing Engine and sponsored by Signor Trucking, One Source One Solution, Window World, TB & Company, Iron Horse CPAs & Advisors, Dietz Well & Pump Co., Tu Casa Mexican Restaurant, Bad Chad Motorsports and Malvern Bank.
