What won the race: Polesitter Bo Slay of Milton, Fla., led all but one of 40 laps Friday at Buckshot Speedway to capture the third Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series victory of his career. Earning $5,000, Slay took the checkers 0.824 of a secon ahead of fellow front-row starter Sam Seawright in a race marred by a nine-car pileup.
Key notes: Bo Slay's previous Southern All Star victories came at his hometown Southern Raceway in 2022 and '24. ... He notched his third victory of the season; he swept a pair of Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series events last month at Super Bee Speedway in Chatham, La. ... On the 27th lap at Buckshot, runner-up Sam Seawright made a high-side bid and nipped Slay to lead at the line. Seawright was on the outside of a lapped car while Slay was working under a slow car; the three entered turn one three-wide and Slay regained his lead as dust blew up during the challenge. ... The race has three slowdowns, the first for a caution on the second lap when a car got sideways; the flagger threw the yellow that wasn't called by the race director and all driver kept their positions. ... On the restart, nine midpack cars were involved in a turn-three pileup that blocked the track and drew a 30-plus minute red flag for drivers including sixth-running Neil Baggett; Baggett and four others retired with several cars hooked together, requiring a tedious untangling. ... A lap-13 caution appeared for a tangle between Kendall Franklin and Lee Mason. ... The 52-minute feature concluded at 10:40 p.m.; nine drivers completed 40 laps ... Buckshot hosted the Ray Cook-operated series for the fifth time and first since 2023. ... The event was the first for the series on Arrowvision Live.
