What won the race: Scoring a Hoosier State sweep, hub-hugging Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., passed race-long leader Trevor Landrum on the 31st lap, then outdueled Jason Jameson in the final laps Saturday at Brownstown Speedway for a $10,000 Northern Allstars Late Model Series victory. The fifth-starting Joiner's victory in the 43rd annual Hoosier Dirt Classic came a night after a series victory at Bloomington Speedway as he took the checkers 0.422 of a second ahead of Jason Jameson, who led laps 44-48. Joiner lapped all but eight drivers.
Quotable: "I can't believe it. Two nights of this, to come up here and do this (and) get ready for Eldora (Speedway) next week, I never would have thought we could go up here and get both of these and have a good weekend as we've had. We ain't tore nothing up. I mean, this is just great. Praise the Lord. I can't believe it."
Key notes: Joseph Joiner's first pass for the lead came on the low side on the 31st lap. ... Jason Jameson swept around Joiner after a lap-43 restart (which erased a four-second lead for Joiner), but the Hunt the Front driver worked back underneath him to lead the final two circuits of the 50-lapper in his second career Brownstown start. ... High-running outside front-row starter Trevor Landrum led the first 30 laps. ... Much of the first half of the race was a three-car duel between Landrum, Stricker and Jameson, but Stricker briefly slipped to fourth on a lap-19 restart. ... Landrum ended up fifth. ... Three cautions slowed the action, the first when the initial start was scrapped. ... The second yellow flag fell on the 19th lap for ninth-running Matt Boknecht, who stopped at the turn-two exit. ... On the 43rd lap, seventh-running David Webb slowed with an apparent flat tire. ... Devin Gilpin retired running fifth after 37 laps. ... Fourth-starting Rusty Schlenk retired after seven laps. ... The 24-minute feature concluded at 10:43 p.m. ... Each heat race winner received $200 with $500 and $300 to the top two feature finishers utilizing a Crate engine.
On the move: Matt Boknecht of Seymour, Ind., started 11th and finished fourth.
