What won the race: Inheriting the lead when race-long pacesetter Chevy Boyer slowed with a flat right-rear tire on the 28th lap, second-starting Tyler Kuykendall of Warsaw, Mo., led the final two circuits of Sunday's 30-lap Nutrien Ag Solutions Revival Super Dirt Series feature at Electric City Speedway. The 18-year-old Kuykendall, a recent high school graduate, beat Kayden Clatt to the checkers by 0.657 of a second for the $3,000 payday, his first career Revival Series victory and second win of the season.
Quotable: “I knew (Eli) Ross was gonna be hard to beat, he’s won dang near all of them and it sucks for him that he got tangled up in that,” Kuykendall said. “Sucks for (Chevy) Boyer, I think he had a tire going down, it was gonna be a good race and (Kayden) Clatt, he was definitely keeping the pressure on. But, I just can’t thank everyone enough, all the fans for coming out here.”
Key notes: Kuykendall stalked Chevy Boyer for much of the opening 27 laps until Boyer slowed at the exit of turn two with a flat right-rear tire on the 28th lap, giving control to Kuykendall. ... Kuykendall, who had been staving off pressure from Kayden Clatt, led the final two laps unchallenged for his second feature win this season, adding to May 16's Heartland Late Model Tour victory at Legit Speedway Park in West Plains, Mo.. ... Clatt settled for second, while Boyer limped around late to finish eighth. ... The race was slowed by eight incidents, the biggest for a multicar pileup when eighth-starting John Rowland spun on the opening lap, eliminating himself along with Jim Body and Ryan Johnson; the mess required a 20-minute cleanup. ... Dustin Atkinson spun to avoid major contact and rallied to finish fourth. ... Other notable cautions included a spin by fourth-running Eli Ross when he tangled with a lapped car on the 19th lap. Ross, who was gunning for the Revival weekend sweep after winning Friday at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo., and Saturday at Nevada (Mo.) Speedway, was eliminated on the ensuing restart and credited with 14th. ... Eighth-running Brandon Conkwright slowed with apparent driveline failure for the fifth stoppage on lap 20. ... Chris Bragg spun from fifth on lap 24 and expressed frustration with Atkinson before pulling off. ... The feature lasted 47 minutes with nine starters completing 30 laps. ... Electric City is slated to host the first-year Ozark Limited Late Model Series on Aug. 14 for twin $500-to-win features.
On the move: Jon Binning of Warrensburg, Mo., started 17th and finished fifth.
