What won the race: Staving off pressure from Ethan Dotson in the closing laps, Cody Overton of Evans, Ga., paced all 40 circuits from the pole at Swainsboro Raceway for his third straight victory on the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals. Overton beat Dotson by 0.544 of a second for the $7,553 payday following Thursday's $7,542 Ken Knight Memorial at Modoc (S.C.) Speedway and Saturday's $7,553 Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway event.

"I thought I gave it away there in the last two laps, I saw (Ethan Dotson) and I’m like ‘Oh my God, I’m just gonna blow the deck out or something, I don’t even care at this point.’"

Key notes: Overton led largely unchallenged in the early going then fended off heavy pressure from Ethan Dotson in the closing laps as they knifed through lapped traffic, as Overton prevailed for his seventh feature win of the season and third in Super Late Model competition. ... Dalton Cook prevailed to finish fourth after a back-and-forth battle with Donald McIntosh; Cook briefly took the spot on the 10th lap before McIntosh held it from laps 11-29 then Cook took it for good on lap 30. ... Joseph Joiner improved four spots to finish seventh while Bubba Roling gained six positions to place eighth. ... The race was slowed three times, the first for a grinding crash on the opening lap when seventh-starting Tyler Thomason spun in turn three, collecting Cameron Tribble and Mathew Porter; Thomason and Tribble were eliminated while Porter continued until retiring on lap 20. ... Seventh-running Jake Knowles stopped in turn four on lap seven and required a tow pitside. ... Tenth-running Benji Hicks slowed with heavy left-front damage for the final stoppage on lap 12; he pitted for repairs but could only continue for a handful more laps before calling it a night. ... The Southern Nationals fifth round lasted 34 minutes with eight starters completing 40 laps and 16 running at the checkers.
