Jed Emert and supporters celebrate a $5,000 Topless Outlaws victory.
What won the race: Jed Emert of Maryville, Tenn., led all 50 laps unchallenged en route to taking Saturday's $5,000 Hall of Fame Night at hometown Smoky Mountain Speedway. Emert beat Rusty Ballenger to the checkers by 2.546 seconds for his second career Jail Breaker Potato Chips Topless Outlaws Series victory and his second overall feature win of 2025.
Quotable: “This place is my home. I hope my grandkids and my great-grandkids get to race at this place. I’ve watched some of the greatest race car drivers, Scott Bloomquist, that was the greatest race car driver ever,” Emert said. “My work ethic is questionable, but there’s nobody that wants it more than me and this win means so much to me.”
Key notes: Emert earned the most lucrative victory of his career on a night where the late Scott Bloomquist was inducted into Smoky Mountain's Hall of Fame. ... Emert's previous victory came Aug. 9 at Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tenn. ... He notched his first Topless Outlaws triumph since July 3, 2020, at Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway. ... Rusty Ballenger and Brandon Kinzer traded the runner-up spot several times with Ballenger taking the spot for good on a lap-33 restart and trailing Emert the rest of the way. Kinzer was third. ... Fourth-finishing Cameron Weaver overtook Reed Hatchett on a lap-20 restart with Hatchett fading to seventh. ... Riley Hickman advanced four positions to finish sixth. ... Points leader Zach Sise entered seeking his third straight series victory, but wasn't a factor in finishing 14th. ... The race was slowed by four cautions, the first for Austin Atkins's solo-spin in turn four on the 20th lap. ... Daniel Boles spun off the turn-three banking on lap 33. ... Chandler Hickman spun in turn three a handful of laps later. ... Ninth-running Tyler Price appeared to lose an engine on lap 44, oiling the track before pulling off. ... The 50-lapper lasted 30 minutes with 17 starters completing the distance. ... It was the first Topless Outlaws event since July 26 at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C.
On the move: Hayden Ownbey of Cleveland, Tenn., started 13th and finished eighth.
