What won the race: Driving by Max Blair for the lead on the third lap, third-starting Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., led the rest of Saturday's 40-lap September Sweep finale at Eriez Speedway, earning a $5,000 unsanctioned Super Late Model victory. Hess beat Blair by 2.243 seconds for his 13th overall feature win of the season and eighth at Eriez.
Key notes: Hess, who swept last year's September Sweep weekend, notched his second special event this season at Eriez, adding to his July 6 Mike Farr Memorial victory, worth $4,100. ... Max Blair led the opening two laps from the pole before giving way to Hess and trailing him the rest of the way. ... Blair and Hess battled for the second straight Saturday; Blair got the better of Hess a week earlier for $10,000 at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y. ... Recently crowned Eriez champ Mike Knight, winner of Friday's $5,000 opener, pressured Blair for second in the early going before settling in third. ... World of Outlaws Series regular Tim McCreadie finished fifth. ... The 40-lap September Sweep finale lasted 18 minutes with 14 starters completing the distance.
