What won the race: Regaining the point on the 31st lap after contact with Camaron Marlar, polesitter Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky., led all but two laps Saturday at Mudlick Valley Raceway for a $10,000 Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory. The low-running Marlar had worked under the race-long leading Chilton to edge ahead on laps 29-30, but spun in turn three after contact from the high-running Chilton.
Quotable: "It's nice to win, but I hate to win that way. Me and Camaron are big buddies," Chilton said, adding that "he was probably going to win that race and we were probably going to run second right there. I hate that. We all make mistakes. I apologized to him and that's all I can do. If he roughs me up one night, I can't say nothing about it."
