Dalton Hodge earned his third Blue Ridge Outlaws victory at Sumter.
What won the race: Unfazed by a late-race caution, polesitter Dalton Hodge of Sumter, S.C., led all 40 laps largely unchallenged in winning Saturday's sixth annual Billy Cagle Memorial at his home track of Sumter Speedway. Hodge beat Braden Jones to the line by 2.038 seconds for the $5,007 payday, his third career Cagle Automotive Blue Ridge Outlaws Late Model Series victory, all of them coming at Sumter.
Key notes: Hodge now has four career feature victories at Sumter, the other three coming in 2021. ... It's his first win of any kind since his most recent Blue Ridge Outlaw triumph on Sept. 11, 2021 — his first Blue Ridge victory came there in July of 2021, each paying $2,000. ... Hodge's biggest challenger appeared to be fifth-starting Adam Yarbrough, who took second on lap 30, only to be eliminated in the race's second and final caution on the 36th lap; Yarbrough was credited with 13th. ... Braden Jones reassumed the runner-up spot on the lap-36 restart, but never had anything for Hodge over the final handful of laps. ... Terry Caples slipped by Bryan Mullis for third on lap 37, relegating Mullis to fourth. ... Justin Mintz, who entered as the most recent Blue Ridge winner at Sumter after capturing last fall's Vern Geddings Memorial, climbed three positions and rounded out the top five. ... Derek Lane and Matt Long each improved six spots in finishing 11th and 12th, the final starters to complete 40 laps. ...
