Dallon Murty picked up his second $5,000-plus victory of the weekend.
What won the race: Securing his second victory in as many nights on the Malvern Bank West Series, Dallon Murty of Chelsea, Iowa, grabbed the lead from polesitter and race-long pacesetter Blair Nothdurft on lap nine and marched on to capture Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Shelby County Speedway. The 20-year-old Dirt Late Model rookie beat veterans Jesse Sobbing and Chad Simpson to the finish line for the $5,156 top prize.
Key notes: Murty’s triumph came after he pocketed $5,086 for claiming Friday’s Malvern Bank West event at Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, S.D. He’s won three of the tour’s last five races and also owns two victories on the Malvern East circuit this season…. Sobbing reached second place on lap 28 and wasn’t able to challenge Murty, finishing 3.263 second behind the victor. … Simpson briefly nosed into second on lap 27 before ceding the spot to Sobbing and settling for a third-place finish. … Nothdurft slipped to sixth in the finishing order. ... Modified standout Jordan Grabouski of Beatrice, Neb., finished 11th aboard a Justin Zeitner-owned No. 30 entry. … The Malvern Bank West Series will complete its tripleheader weekend on Sunday at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Neb.
On the move: Dylan Sillman of Alvo, Neb., started 21st and finished 12th.
Winner's sponsors: Murty’s Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by Bidwell Farms, Murty Farms, Stealth Oilwell Services, Kash Money Motorsports, Bilstein Shocks, Swift Springs, Performance Bodies, Fast Shafts driveshafts, Velocita Premium Motorsports Apparel, Quality Services and Malvern Bank.
