Runner-up Drake Troutman congratulates winner Tim McCreadie.
What won the race: Powering back around Drake Troutman out of turn four and taking the lead for good on lap 38, polesitter Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., paced the final eight circuits in winning Thursday's Sand Hill Showdown at Selinsgrove Speedway. McCreadie led twice for 18 laps (1-10, 38-45) and beat Troutman by 1.848 seconds to collect the $20,000 payday, his 41st career World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory and second of the season.
Quotable: “Sometimes the (stick) signal guys help and sometimes, when you don’t see a change in the signal, you get worried and you start maybe getting off your game a little bit,” McCreadie said. “I noticed Drake (Troutman) kinda did some things that I hadn’t seen him do and it opened my lane up there and that’s kinda where we both were. When he got off the top I started getting better runs and it just worked out.”
Key notes: McCreadie's 41st career WoO victory gives him sole possession of seventh on the tour's win list, breaking a tie with Chris Madden. ... It's McCreadie's second career Selinsgrove victory, adding to 2014's $8,000 WoO triumph. ... It's his second series win this season, his first since Jan. 24's DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals finale at Florida's Volusia Speedway Park, also worth $20,000. ... Making his Selinsgrove debut Drake Troutman, who led six laps Wednesday at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway before suffering a flat tire, used a turn-four slide job by McCreadie to lead 27 laps (11-37) before ceding the spot back to McCreadie as they completed the 38th circuit. ... Mason Zeigler, who led the opening 15 laps Wednesday before eventually retiring with a broken right-rear shock, held third the entire distance. ... Seventh-starting Daulton Wilson finished fourth after taking advantage of a lap-34 restart. ... Lane Snook held fourth for much of the race before slipping to seventh in the closing laps. ... Nick Hoffman finished fifth, reclaiming the series points lead from Bobby Pierce, who finished 10th. Pierce won Wednesday's Mid-Atlantic opener at Georgetown. ... Andrew Yoder finished 17th after he was granted a provisional starting position as the most recent Selinsgrove track champion who failed to transfer through a heat race or consolation. ... The race was slowed by two cautions, the first coming when eighth-running Tristan Chamberlain slowed with apparent engine failure on lap 21; he was credited with 23rd. ... Gregg Satterlee slowed from seventh and retired on lap 34 for the final stoppage. ... The 45-lapper lasted 22 minutes with 19 starters completing the distance.
On the move: Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, started 16th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: McCreadie’s Briggs Transport Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Dave Warren Powersports, Excess Storage, Johnstown Hydraulics Inc., Sherlock Ventures, OneRail, Flawless Roofing, Trans 58, Bilstein Shocks, Valvoline, VP Racing Fuels and Night Owl Design.
