What won the race: Going underneath polesitter Hudson O'Neal on the 11th lap, Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., cruised the rest of Saturday's 42nd annual Hoosier Dirt Classic for his first career victory at Brownstown Speedway. The third-starting Rice lapped all but five competitors, sticking to the extreme inside groove in pocketing $10,000 for his fourth Northern Allstars Late Model Series victory of the season and fourth of his career.
Quotable: "Of course, the caution (flag) with two (laps) to go. I was about to throw up," Rice said. "I just knew it was gonna be something."
Key notes: Reigning series champ Josh Rice has six Super Late Model feature victories overall in 2025. .... Rice, who celebrated with a series of donuts in turn four and by slapping the Brownstown Speedway sign in victory lane, led by more than two seconds at halfway, 3.5 seconds after 35 laps and was never seriously challenged after overtaking leader Hudson O'Neal, who was trying to join his father, Don, as a Hoosier Dirt Classic champ. ... Runner-up Tanner English advanced eight positions in a new Longhorn Chassis. ... Two cautions slowed the feature, the first when 10th-running Mike Marlar slowed and headed pitside on the 13th lap. ... The second and final caution appeared on the 49th lap for debris in turn four. ... Sixth-running Camaron Marlar, the fastest of 40 qualifiers, retired on the 38th lap. ... Third-finishing Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, Ind., was back with a new Longhorn Chassis after a rollover wreck destroyed a car two weeks ago at his hometown track. ... Series points leader Devin Gilpin wasn't a factor in finishing a lap down.
On the move: Runner-up Tanner English of Benton, Ky., started 10th; making his Brownstown debut, Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., started 15th and finished fifth.
