Mason Zeigler celebrates his first Appalachian Speedweek victory.
What won the race: Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., led all 35 laps from the pole and held off late pressure from Rick Eckert to win Tuesday's $5,000 Selinsgrove Ford Appalachian Mountain Speedweek feature at Path Valley Speedway. Zeigler was slowed by lapped traffic in the late stages but held on to beat Eckert to the line by 0.694 of a second for the $5,000 payday and his first career Speedweek victory.
Quotable: “What a racy little place. I like it better when it’s got a big massive cushion I can lean on it there, but when it gets like this and you see (Rick Eckert) is behind you, it makes your ass pucker because you know he’s gonna be good,” Zeigler said. “I hate racing in that condition because I struggle with most of it, but I’m happy we were able to get it done. We probably should’ve stayed back from Eldora and came to the other (AMS races), but we have a lot more fun seems like racing around home.”

Reigning Speedweek champ Gregg Satterlee, winner of Saturday night's AMS season opener at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, recovered to ninth after tangling with Danny Snyder and spinning on the opening lap. Satterlee charged from 20th over the final 20 laps. Snyder continued until pulling off on lap 25 and was credited with 21st. ... Jason Covert spun on the third lap, triggering the race's second caution, then pulled off. Covert "bent something" on his backup car, the second incident of Speedweek after he junked his primary car Saturday at Port Royal. He plans on making a trip to Rocket Chassis in Shinnston, W.Va., Wednesday and be back in action Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. ... Sixth-running Ross Robinson slowed and pulled into the pits on the 12th lap. ... Hayes Mattern slowed from fourth with a flat tire a couple of laps later, then slowed on the ensuing restart for the race's fourth and fifth slowdowns. ... Taylor Farlling slowed from 12th for the sixth and final caution. ... The 35-lapper lasted 21 minutes, with 19 starters completing the distance.
