Devin Moran gets rolling ahead of his Florence feature victory.
What won the race: Sliding by Josh Rice on the 19th lap, third-starting Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, fended off a mid-race challenge from Dale McDowell, then held off Rice to win Saturday's 50-lap Hunt the Front-Northern Allstars Late Model Series co-sanctioned feature at Florence Speedway. Moran beat Rice to the line by 0.527 of a second for the $20,000 payday and his first career victory on both HTF and NALMS tours.
Quotable: “My guys have just been working through the adversity and they gave me a really good racecar tonight. I knew at some point Dale (McDowell) was gonna be coming on the bottom and I knew at some point Josh (Rice) was gonna be coming on the top,” Moran said. “I just felt like I had a good enough racecar that I could go wherever I needed to with it, without a doubt.”
Key notes: Moran notched his eighth overall victory of the season and his first Florence win since March 26, 2016, an unsanctioned Super Late Model event worth $5,000. ... Josh Rice, who entered seeking his third Florence win of 2025 and 14th overall since 2021, led laps 17-18 before slipping as low as fourth; Rice reclaimed second on lap 42 and pressured Moran in the closing laps, but could not nose ahead. ... Joseph Joiner took advantage with a fifth-to-third move on a lap-45 restart. ... Eleventh-starting Jimmy Owens took fourth on lap 46 and has assumed the HTF series points lead. ... Jason Jameson led the opening 16 laps from the pole before fading to fifth. ... Dale McDowell marched to second by lap 21 and nearly nipped Moran for the lead on lap 30, before settling for sixth. ... The race officially had two lead changes among Jameson, Rice and Moran. ... Cory Hedgecock, winner of Friday's $10,000 co-sanctioned weekend opener at Kentucky's Lake Cumberland Speedway, improved six spots to finish seventh. ... Devin Gilpin gained 14 positions and finished 11th after utilizing a series provisional. ... Daulton Wilson recovered to finish 16th after he slowed with a flat right rear for the race's first caution on lap 20. ... Kaede Loudy spun on the ensuing restart; he continued for 20 more laps before pulling off. ... Josh Putnam slowed from 12th with a flat left-rear tire for the third and final yellow flag on the 45 lap. He soldiered to a 17th-place finish, the final starter to complete 50 laps. ... Jake O'Neil, making a couple rare Late Model starts this weekend, started second but faded to 12th before retiring at halfway. ... The main event lasted 26 minutes.
On the move: Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., started 21st and finished third.
