What won the race: Inheriting control when race-long leader Michael Batten retired on lap 35, third-starting Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, Va., led the final six laps for his first career Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory Saturday night at County Line Raceway. Bare beat polesitter Russell Erwin by 0.467 of a second for the $5,000 payday and his seventh overall feature victory of the season.
Key notes: Five of Bare's wins this season have come at Natural Bridge (Va.) Speedway, while the other outlier was July 19's unsanctioned Junior Boone Memorial at Winchester (Va.) Speedway, worth $5,555. ... Second-starting Michael Batten led the opening 34 laps before retiring under the race's fourth and final caution on lap 35. He was credited with 18th. ... Sixth-starting Dustin Mitchell, chasing his second straight Clash win at County Line, inherited third on the lap-35 restart and rounded out the podium. ... Points leader Ben Watkins improved four positions to finish eighth. ... Brad Basey appeared to trigger the third caution lap 18 before retiring and placing 23rd. ... A couple of cautions slowed the action on lap four, along with the ensuing restart attempt. ... Saturday's feature, the first Carolina Clash event since May 17, lasted 27 minutes, with 16 starters completing 40 laps. ... The series reported after the race that its truck and trailer and was stolen from the Holiday Inn in Lumberton, N.C.; see the tour's Facebook page for contact info if you spot it.
