Dave Hess Jr. picked up a $7,500 victory at Marion Center.
What won the race: Slipping by race-long leader Michael Norris on the 37th lap, third-starting Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., paced the final four circuits to win Saturday's $7,500 fifth annual Nathan Lauer Memorial at Marion Center Raceway. Hess pulled away from Norris in the final laps, beating him by 1.727 seconds for his second Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series victory this season and 15th of his career.
Quotable: “The racetrack at the end, the bottom was getting crumby, you know, kind of used up the traction and it was just getting loose. The top was getting a little better, I thought,” Hess said. “I don’t think we had the best car, speed-wise, but the cautions came at the right time and we had a good short-run car. That last lap got a little heated there, I’d like to think Mike (Norris) would’ve done the same thing had it been the other way around, going for the win. (It) was great racing with them guys.”

Greg Oakes and Levi Yetter appeared to be eliminated in the lap-35 incident that drew the race's third and final caution. ... Dylan Lewis and Rodney Phillips both retired a couple laps earlier in a lap-33 slowdown. ... Andrew Wylie appeared to trigger the opening stoppage on lap 16. ... The event celebrated Marion Center's 60th year of operation. ... The feature lasted 24 minutes, with 16 starters completing 40 laps.
