Jason Feger led all 40 laps for a $5,000 Sycamore victory.
What won the race: Reigning series champ and current points leader Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., dominated Friday's MARS Championship Series event at Sycamore Speedway, running virtually unchallenged for a $5,000 payday and his fourth series victory of the season. The pole-starting Feger took the checkers 1.154 seconds ahead of fourth-starting Dennis Erb Jr. in a race extended to 41 laps by a last-lap caution flag.
Quotable: "This place (was) a little bottom-dominant tonight, but I could get out and roll that middle really well," Feger said. "There's a few little tricks to it and you gotta have a really good car and we were able to do that here in the Summer Nationals, too. We've just got a really good package for this track right here."
Key notes: Feger's 31st career MARS victory ties him with Jesse Stovall for third all-time on the circuit. ... Feger added the Sycamore victory to his June 15 triumph at the same track on the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. ... Fourth-finishing Tony Jackson Jr. soldiered on despite sustaining body damage while running second mid-race. ... Second-starting Mike Spatola ran second early but faded after the first caution. ... Frank Heckenast Jr. improved three positions to eighth but retired at halfway. ... Two cautions slowed the action, the first on the ninth lap for Mike Lofgren's turn-four spin, which erased a four-second lead for Feger. ... A lap-40 caution fell for Billy Moyer Jr.'s turn-three spin (Moyer piloted the Curless Racing No. 99). ... Daniel Adam was back in the Adam Family Motorsports Late Model he vacated this spring, joining Dillon McCowan, who drove the team's car through the summer.
On the move: Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., started seventh and finished third.
