Kyle Bronson picked up another $10,000 at East Alabama.
What won the race: Taking command when Kyle Strickler retired with a broken fan blade on lap 15, sixth-starting Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., paced the final 36 circuits Saturday for his second straight $10,000 Super Late Model victory at the East Alabama Motor Speedway. Bronson beat early leader Dalton Cook to the checkers by 1.701 seconds for his second feature victory this season.
Key notes: Bronson's previous victory was July 26, which snapped a near 16-month winless drought. ... His last three victories have come at EAMS, including April 6, 2024, on the Schaeffer's Spring Nationals. ... Mark Whitener overcame a flat right-rear tire and took second from Dalton Cook on lap 34 before trailing Bronson until retiring on lap 40 with battery issues. Whitener was credited with ninth. ... The second-starting Cook, of Smiths Station, Ala., led the opening three laps before slipping as low as third, then chased Bronson the final 10 laps after Whitener was eliminated. Cook was awarded $10,000 as EAMS track champion after his nearest points challenger Montana Dudley retired from fifth on lap 24. ... Josh Putnam and J.R. Moseley both improved five positions to finish third and fourth, respectively. ... Kyle Strickler led laps 4-14 until he retired along with Garrett Smith on the 15th lap. They were credited with 12th and 13th. ... The 36-minute race was the sixth and final $10,000 special at EAMS, which hosts its biggest event of the season in early November for the National 100.
On the move: Maddux Mullinax of Birmingham, Ala., started 12th and finished sixth, the final starter to complete 50 laps.
