Gregg Satterlee in Bridgeport's victory lane with Appalachian Mountain Speedweek director Jim Bernheisel.
What won the race: Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., surged into the lead with a lap-23 restart slider on race-long pacesetter Trever Feathers and rolled to victory in Sunday’s 40-lap Selinsgrove Ford Appalachian Mountain Speedweek debut at Bridgeport Speedway. The defending tour champion beat Bryan Bernheisel to the finish line by 3.676 seconds for the $6,000 top prize.
Quotable: “What an awesome racetrack,” Satterlee said. “That’s a lot of fun out there. The cushion’s definitely the preferred line, but you can peel away from it and definitely keep up. Trever was really good in open racetrack … on that single-file restart he kind of moved off the traction, and I had such a run I was able to slide him and hopefully clear him by enough, but I needed to get out front so I could keep as much air on my car as I could and be straight and not overwork my tires.”
Key notes: Satterlee reached second on a lap-nine restart when he swept past Bernheisel, then pulled a slider on Feathers through turns one and two on the lap-23 restart to assume command for good. … Satterlee’s win was his second in four Appalachian Mountain Speedweek events this season and the 11th of his career on the miniseries. It came in both his and the circuit’s first-ever visit to Bridgeport. … Bernheisel followed Satterlee past Feathers and held second for the remaining distance without seriously challenging the leader. ... Jakob Piper scored a career-best AMS finish of third while Briggs Danner of Allentown, Pa., a USAC sprint car racer and former weekly modified racer at Bridgeport, was fourth in his Dirt Late Model debut driving a Jim Bernheisel-fielded No. 31. ... Feathers pitted to change a left-rear tire that was deflating due to a bead-lock problem during a lap-25 caution period and finished eighth. ... Six cautions slowed the feature starting on lap nine when early second-place runner Ross Robinson fell off the pace. … Other cautions flew for Danny Snyder (turn-four spin on lap 11), Al Cheney III (lap 12), Kyle Lee (lap 23), Rob Schirmer (lap 25) and Chad Homan (spin on lap-25 restart). ... The event was originally set to conclude the 2025 Appalachian Mountain Speedweek, but series director Jim Bernheisel announced that the rained-out show at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway has been reset for July 11 and will serve as the final points race. ... Jeremy Pilkerton scratched.
On the move: Donald Lingo Jr. of Millsboro, Del., started ninth and finished fifth.
