John Ruggiero Jr. celebrates a $10,000 victory at Natural Bridge.
What won the race: Second-starting John Ruggiero Jr. of Lincolnton, N.C., fired off from the outside pole and led the entirety of Saturday night's Bridge 58 American All-Star Series presented by PPM Racing Products feature at Natural Bridge Speedway. Ruggiero led largely unchallenged to the $10,000 victory, his third career five-figure payday and first All-Star 604 Crate win since Sept. 2, 2024, at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., aboard the No. 00 Factory Longhorn entry.
Quotable: “Me and my dad been working our butt off (on) this 604 (Crate) program. We’ve just been a little bit behind, it’s easy to do, everybody’s got really good equipment and a lot of good drivers,” Ruggiero said. “Me and my dad been putting our heads together, been working hard, it’s finally starting to pay off and I just can’t thank him enough for everything he does for me, believing in me. Certainly this ($10,000) is gonna go a long way to our program.”
Key notes: Ruggiero previously earned $10,000 across a sweep of 2022's two-day Turkey 100 at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway aboard his family-owned No. 44 Longhorn. ... Sixth-starting Justin Williams reclaimed the runner-up spot when Kyle Hardy left the racing surface on lap 41, drawing the race's eighth caution; Williams trailed Ruggiero the rest of the way, finishing 1.592 seconds back. ... The 20th-starting Hardy, of Stephens City, Va., rebounded as high as sixth before making wall contact on a lap-47 restart and settling for seventh with heavy deck and spoiler damage. ... Series points leader Tyler Arrington improved eight spots and finished third. ... Defending event winner Logan Roberson climbed eight spots for fourth. ... Ethan Wilson rounded out the top five aboard the No. 00 Factory Longhorn. ... The 57-minute main event was marred by 10 cautions, the final coming when Baillie Lowe slowed from seventh on the 47th lap; he retired and was credited with 10th. ... Tenth-running Tyler Bare, who overcame a lap-five flat tire, also left the turn-three racing surface, doing so on lap 44; he continued and finished one lap down in ninth. ... Polesitter Billy Beachler slipped to seventh by lap 35 before slowing to draw the sixth caution. ... Walker Arthur retired from sixth after a botched lap-16 restart attempt. Fifth-running Zach Sise slowed for the original lap-16 caution; they were credited with 20th and 21st. ... Josh Dietz was the race's first retiree after pulling off on the second lap. ... Joshua Chesney overcame hauler issues on his way to the track, but turned down a series provisional. ... Wyatt Coffey won the night's 602 Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., started 20th and finished seventh.
