Sam Seawright celebrates a $15,000 Deep Fried victory at Duck River.
What won the race: Diving under Cory Hedgecock on the 71st lap, polesitter Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., captured Saturday's Deep Fried 75 at Duck River Raceway Park for a $15,000 victory on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series. Hedgecock, who had led since lap 18, finished 2.213 seconds behind at the checkers in the caution-plagued feature.
Quotable: "I just didn't need those cautions, man. It seemed like every time I got a good run going, the caution would come out," Seawright said. "Cory (Hedgecock) done an awesome job. I felt like I was better than him, but he done a really good job driving and it took me forever to get by him there. I bombed it off in there — I don't wanna slide him dirty and I hope I didn't — but you gotta do what you gotta do. I had an awesome race car."
Key notes: Sam Seawright won his second HTF race of the season and fourth of his career. ... Besides the last five laps, Seawright also led the first lap while Ashton Winger lead laps 2-17 and Cory Hedgecock led laps 18-70. ... Series points leader Jimmy Owens, Friday's $8,000 winner, slowed running third on the 55th lap (Oakley Johns slid into an infield tire simultaneously after a scramble). ... Besides the Owens departure, nine cautions slowed the action, the first on lap 27 when fourth-running Ashton Winger slowed briefly on the backstretch. ... A lap-28 yellow flag appeared for Jay Scott's spin. ... On the 33rd lap, Wil Herrington had a flat tire while Johns slowed (the yellow erased a Sam Seawright pass for the lead). ... A lap-47 yellow dropped when Dillard Hatchett went around after contact from Joseph Joiner (Hatchett spun again on the ensuing restart). ... Mario Gresham spun on lap 48. ... A lap-59 caution appeared when Herrington tangled with Dalton Cook, then slowed and collected Johns. ... Lap 70 cautions appeared for the departure of fast qualifier Josh Putnam and again for a Beckham Malone-Brayden Skinner tangle. ... In prelims, the second consolation was delayed by two red flags, first for unauthorized communication over the Raceceiver driver communication, then when Karl Tipton's car tipped over after climbing the turn-two wall; he was OK.
On the move: David Seibers of Lewisburg, Tenn., started 24th and finished 10th.
