What won the race: Polesitter Steve Banal of Lincolnton, N.C., survived a late-race restart in leading all 40 laps of Saturday's third annual Bob Sharp Memorial, collecting the $5,000 top prize for the second straight year at Sumter Speedway. Banal beat Ben Watkins by 1.118 seconds for his first career Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory after his first career Ultimate Southeast Series triumph in last year's Sharp Memorial.
Quotable: “We’ve been struggling, really. We’ve kinda struggled, but we always seem to run good here, I guess I need to run here all the time,” Banal quipped. “The racetrack was good, allowed us to go fast in qualifying. It kinda translated over to the feature, the car was really good.”
