Dale McDowell waves the checkers in victory lane at Eldora.
What won the race: Winning his second World 100 semifeature in as many nights, 10th-starting Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., overtook polesitter Ethan Dotson on the 14th lap and led the rest of Friday's 25-lap preliminary. McDowell took the checkers 1.406 seconds ahead of sixth-starting Bobby Pierce for a $12,000 payday.
Quotable: "I'm just at a lost for words. I'm in awe to be up here two nights in a row," McDowell said. "Tomorrow night it's gonna be tough getting through the heat races and all that stuff and maybe just maybe we'll be able to (challenge for the World 100), but if not, I'm just proud to be a part of this show, be able to come out here and race in front of all you race fans. ... It's been a good career."
Key notes: The 59-year-old Dale McDowell, winner of the World 100 and Dream during a sparkling Eldora career, scored his fourth overall victory of the season. ... Runner-up Bobby Pierce closed within a half-second of McDowell with two laps remaining, but the winner edged away as the frontrunners dealt with lapped traffic. ... Third-place finisher Ethan Dotson led the first 13 laps. ... Dennis Erb Jr. grabbed fourth on lap 24, but Devin Moran took the spot back on the final lap. ... The 25-lapper ran caution-free and all 26 starters were running at the finish. ... A few rain sprinkles hit the track during victory lane ceremonies. ... Accumulated driver points from Thursday and Friday set heat race lineups for Saturday's action, which is capped by the $72,000-to-win World 100. ... McDowell and Jonathan Davenport won Thursday's semifeatures.
On the move: Winner Dale McDowell started 10th.
