Kevin Eder celebrates his Tuesday night victory.
What won the race: Muscling his way past leader Tyler Peterson and banging doors as they completed the 38th lap, 10th-starting Kevin Eder of Cameron, Wis., paced the final three circuits to capture Tuesday's $3,000 Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series opener at I-94 EMR Speedway. Eder beat Peterson by 1.027 seconds for his second career Challenge Series victory and third victory of the season, all in the past 11 days.
Quotable: “I was really hoping to give Tyler (Peterson) enough room there and race with him clean,” Eder said. “You kinda gotta go when you gotta go. Sorry if we ruffled any feathers. I think (the late-race contact) was his fault, but I’m not keeping score.”
Key notes: Eder won his first Challenge Series event Aug. 30 at Hibbing (Minn.) Speedway and Sept. 5's $2,500 Northern Nationals at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. ... Fourth-starting Tyler Peterson took control from Lee Grosz on a lap-15 restart and held the lead until Eder slipped by late. ... Grosz, who led the opening 14 laps from outside the front row, was third after a back-and-forth battle with Dave Mass, who settled for fourth, extending his points lead over Shane Sabraski (25 points) entering Wednesday's tour finale. ... Ryan Mikkelson improved four positions to finish seventh. ... Polesitter Shawn Meyer slipped to ninth at the checkers. ... Apparent 16th-place finisher Cory Tammen was disqualified and moved to last in the final rundown after a muffler fell off his car, drawing the lap-15 yellow flag. ... The race was slowed by two cautions, the first on lap 12 for Jordan Tollakson's spin. He did not continue and was credited with 24th following Tammen's DQ. ... While the WISSOTA Challenge Series concludes its 2025 season with Wednesday's 40-lap, $3,000-to-win finale, the top-eight finishers will clinch a starting spot in Saturday's Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 main event.
On the move: Kevin Burdick of Proctor, Minn., started 15th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Eder's MB Customs Race Car is powered by an Adam's Automotive engine and sponsored by Seubert Calf Ranches, Gille Septic Pumping, Olsen Custom Farms, Elite Epoxy, KF Farms, CMD Race Shocks, Eder Bros., Champ Pans and Jokinen Medias.
