What won the race: Inheriting the lead when frontrunner Kyle Beard retired with mechanical issues on the 20th lap, sixth-starting B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., drove to the $5,000 Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory Saturday at Revolution Park. Robinson finished 1.533 seconds ahead of series points leader Billy Moyer for his first series victory this season and seventh of his career.
Quotable: “(Kyle Beard’s mechanical woes) obviously helped. I felt like I was closing in on him when we got to lapped traffic and he really didn’t have an idea where to go,” Robinson said. “He was married to the top, I kept trying the bottom down here a few laps. It’s good to win. We’ve had speed in qualifying and heat races, but I seem to just keep screwing it up for the feature.”
Key notes: Robinson grabbed his first feature win this season and first Comp Cams win since last Oct. 18 at 67 Speedway of Texarkana (Ark.), also worth $5,000. ... Teenager Eli Ross rallied to finish sixth after bringing out a caution on the fourth lap. … The 30-lap feature was marred by three failed starts, including an early tangle between Chance Mann and Shane Stephens on the initial attempt. … Clay Stuckey rebounded to finish fourth after triggering a caution during the second failed start. … Morgan Bagley, winner of Friday's $5,000 opener, finished fifth. ... The main event lasted 34 minutes, with eight starters running at the finish. ... Curtis Cole scratched.
On the move: Clay Stuckey of Shreveport, La., started 12th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Robinson’s DP Motorsports Black Diamond Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from David Peterson Contracting, Andrew’s Towing & Recovery, Comprehensive Motorsports, FiberTec Laser Cutting, Cooper’s Country Meat Packers, Comp Industrial Resources and Go Lithium.
Points chase: After Revolution Park: 1. Billy Moyer (3,385); 2. Morgan Bagley (3,110); 3. B.J. Robinson (2,980); 4. Eli Ross (2,830); 5. Kyle Beard (2,820).
